Cosmic Happenin's
The Cosmic Cowboys are a Cosmic American Country rock
band from St. Louis, MO.
Some of the many influences on the band include:
Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris, The Flying Burrito Brothers,
The Byrds,
New Riders of the Purple Sage, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard & Buck Owens.
Gram Parsons is often referred to as a pioneer of the country rock sound. His music and legacy has developed a considerable cult following due to his efforts to blur the line between rock & roll and country music during the late 1960's and early 1970's. Parsons' influence was key in the development of such bands as The Byrds, The Eagles and The Rolling Stones, as well as inspired contemporary bands such as Uncle Tupelo, Dwight Yoakam,
Son Volt, The Jayhawks, Wilco and My Morning Jacket.
The Cosmic Cowboys consist of four members:
Richard Dempsey (Guitar, Bass Vocals)
Rick Rahmberg (Bass, Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals)
Jim Peters (Steel Guitar, Guitar, Vocals)
Grady Schneider (Drums, Vocals)
Cosmic Cowboys debut show was at Jackson's, Manchester Rd, St. Louis, Mo.
